The gîtes de France network offers several types of accomodation, each one fitting specific needs. Whatever accomodation you will choose, our houses will always offer you some essential qualities :
- The environment : our houses are for the main part in the coutryside and privilege tranquility and calmness
- Greeting is a family one and our owners are eager to make you discover their region. Disponibility, conviviality, exchanges, generosity are the watchwords qualifying the Gîtes de France greeting
- The architecture of our houses is as diversified as the French regions. Each stay will be a new occasion to discover the best of them.
What is a rural gite ?
A house only for you…
An ideal place to spend your holidays with your family or friends all year long. A gîte is a private property that can be rented for a week (usually from Saturday to Saturday), or for a weekend or a short stay at certain times of year.
All our gites are equipped to make you feel as comfortable as possible, and have living rooms, kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom.
We propose you gites from 2 to more than 10 persons. Some owners have several adjoining houses and so several families can spend their holidays together.
What is a "chambre d'hôtes" ?
A home away from home.
A French-style bed and breakfast: our owners will welcome you warmly in their house for one or several nights, with a maximum of 5 guestrooms.
- A hearty breakfast is always included in the night price. It will be an opportunity to discover the local dishes and to share convivial moments with your hosts.
- Some owners also propose the "table d'hôte", and offer you to share a family or sometimes gastronomic meal. The table d'hôtes meals are only available to people staying in the bed and breakfast.
What is a stopover gite ?

These large gîtes are perfectly suited to groups. They are ideal places to hold conferences, discovery classes, athletic courses, to discover nature,... They are also a stopover for hikers, cyclists and horse riders.
All stopover and holiday gîtes offer
- living areas,
- bedrooms or dormitories
- private or shared bathroom facilities.
Depending on the gîte, you might have access to a fully equipped kitchen ("self catering") or choose the half or full board.
What is a children gite ?
Offer your kids holidays in the countryside !
During the school holidays, families carefully selected by Gîtes de France welcome your children (ages 4 to 15) in the countryside or by the sea.
These gîtes organize for children (minimum of 3/maximum of 20) a wide range of fun activities:
- Instructive activities: theatre, dance, introductory computing, foreign languages, etc.
- Handicrafts: painting, pottery, jam and cakes...
- Sports: hiking, riding, swimming, bicycle, ...
Children's gîtes offer a family environment and will have access to the whole house, particularly to the game room and the garden.
The children gîtes can be located on farms, and encourage the observation of nature and animals.
